An Interview with Me: CCNA Voice

InformIT just posted an interview with me from the last Cisco Live! event (why'd they rename it from Cisco Networkers anyway? I liked that better) about the CCNA Voice certification. Here's the links, if you're interested; I'm keeping them here for my own reference. It's not every day you get to meet someone like Jeff Doyle!

CCNA Voice Interview, Part 1

CCNA Voice Interview, Part 2

***Disclaimer - these interviews were recorded before the CCNA Voice was announced by Cisco. Up until that point, they informed me that the only pre-req. for the CCNA Voice would be a CCENT certification (which still makes more sense in my mind) rather than the CCNA. I mention that somewhere in these interviews...***

Good Interview! I passed the CCNA Voice last week. I was not impressed with the exam itself, but am glad for your Cisco Press Certification Guide!! Very good job Jeremy.

Its nice to know you are like the rest of us who have high respects and honored to meet the "Cisco gurus".

Grats on the interview, was great!

Sorry for asking it here, kinda off-topic, but I could not find a better place - I was just wondering if there are any plans for updating CBT Nuggets beautiful CCNA course you composed, since the official CCNA course has many changes in it.

This would be really nice to know.

Also I have to point out, that the screen-capturing software you used when recording the old CCNA course was much better that the one you are using for your latest ones, not so laggy.

It would be nice if you reconsider switching to an old one :)

Still - the work you've done is just amazing, and thank you so much.

In your interview, you speak same as you speak in CBT videos. No diplomatic sentences.
Nice explanation about CCNA voice.

Off topic here but need some advice?

Have a current valid CCNP, recently passed MPLS, QoS...so my thought was "great BGP then I am a CCIP".

Checked the certification tracker on cisco, and noticed that BCMSN was no longer highlighted...but BSCI was?

So...questioned this.

Turns out that my BCMSN (passed Dec 04) & BSCI (passed Dec 05) are no longer valid as they they have lapsed...???

Now that would be the case but the tracker states CCNP certified?

So my questions are

1) How can CCNP be vlaid but BSCI & BCMSN are not? As current T&C state any 642 exam automatically recertifies the CCNP?
2) If it was the case that the BSCI & BCMSN are invalid then should both BSCI & BCMSN be struck off, however BSCI is still highlighted.

Sorry for the contact in this way...but hopefully you will pick this up and reply as it seems cisco certification support are not exactly the brightest as they did state the BSCI was no longer valid exam...lol???

Many thanks

JC,

wouldn't be cool if you shared some real world topologies that you have done for clients. Meaning setting up small business and how you did the design and what kind of equipment you used and some configuration methods. I am new into Cisco world, and very much interested in consulting.. I am CCNA thanks to all your videos. So shed some light will you.

i didnt know where else to post this... so this entry felt like "voip related".. and ur email isnt give anywhere(at least at one look)..

i am planning to get a few equipment for my ccie voice studies.. i am already a ccvp. I think the first thing i would need is a digital pstn simulation.. so i need 2 MFT-1T1(for branches) and 1 MFT-2T1(pstn).. in ur opinion would it be "luxurious" to get one?? or is it necessary??.. now that new v3.0 has done away with analogues... i thought its essential.. i could save online racktime for more serious 3750s... right??

secondly... is ebay safe?? i mean.. i live in india.. the ebay.in has nothing to offer.. it gotta be a international purchase... from ebay.com.. will it be too risky??.. just wanted an opinion from u..(u recommend ebay in ur cbts ;) )

what is ur opinion on this?? :

Is social media going to kill SEO?

Posted by: beelpinuessex at November 14, 2009 8:22 AM

Thanks for putting up this article. I'm unquestionably frustrated with struggling to search out relevant and rational commentary on this matter. Everybody now goes to the very far extremes to either drive home their viewpoint that either: everyone else in the planet is wrong, or two that everyone but them does not really understand the situation. Many thanks for your concise, pertinent insight.
