I LOVE THESE THINGS!!!
Do these 800 series routers just keep getting cooler or what?!? This one (Cisco 881) can even connect to a G3 cellular data network to use as a WAN link. I checked my reseller prices - it's about $450.00. Sweet!
All it's missing is an LCD display screen on the front. Now THAT would be hot! I have no idea what it would say...not sure I'd even care - I just want an LCD display screen.
NOTE: Correction G3 = 3G...dyslexia strikes again...

802.11n draft 2! I have to say, the front on this one is not a slick as the earlier 800 models with the reflective black plastic (I have an 871W) at your recommendation on the ICND 1 Nugget vids, its so cool and in a neat little package. Setting up the wireless was a real challenge at the ICND1 level :)
Would a service provider be needed for the G3 cellular data network connectivity?

I saw it on there site a few weeks back (while checking the options on a 871) and wondered what that thing on the front was...
Is this the first cisco router that uses G3 as an option? I have note seen it before.

Jeremy--would you recommend these for a budding CCNP candidate for a lab? They are more current hardware wise than buying an old 2600 (and a little more spendy) but presumably would have some very current features.

Is 3G the same as G3?

They're talking abount 3G, very hot for using in Germany. With the 888 I can use SDSL, and as a Fallback ADSL (with external modem), or ISDN, or UMTS. Really great.
The 1841 has a 3G WIC available ...

Now if only they made the Ethernet ports Gigabit, then they would blow everything else out of the water!

Never mind my CCNP question, they are cool boxes but no serial interfaces, etc. It's like a Linksys AP on steroids with IOS and no serial ports. the 3G stuff is very cool.
I agree with Shaun--why not gigabit?

I wounder if they still using passive cooling as previous generation of 800 series, and what about performance PPS? Can't find information anywhere but I suppose its about 50K as twice faster than 870 series.

Guys, great ideas on the 800 series. I will take this back to the development staff at Cisco.

I think it's weird a huge company like Cisco now at last starts supporting 3G at their routers.. Here in NL we're using 3G for some years now. It's ideal for example @ mobile workers or as a branch-office backup internetconnection.
I'm working at an IT company and we've had many customers requesting 3G Cisco routers but until today we could only sell PCMCIA cards of mobile operators instead of preferred solid Cisco network equipment :(
How long will it take until Cisco supports HSDPA.. ;)

Hello, i was wondering if there is a 800 that supports ipvoice, with ipvoice and vpns it had been a great thing for me. With a price around that?
