Want to take a Cisco Exam? Smile!!!
Interesting new information from Cisco on their updated certification security. Certification exam takers will now be required to take a digital photograph and give a digital signature at VUE exam centers:
Cisco and Pearson VUE Improve Security Innovations in Global Test Delivery
...
Cisco is now requiring that all VUE test centers delivering Cisco certification exams collect digital photos and digital signatures during the admissions process, in addition to the current identification requirements. This new layer of identity authentication will help to ensure candidate identity and result in increased assurance that individuals are presenting accurate certification records in the marketplace. The new authentication technology will be implemented in phases around the globe over the next year.
I'm curious if this will really help in securing the exam information itself. It seems to me that the main problem is not people taking tests for each other, but rather, practice test organizations (I will refrain from mentioning which ones) releasing actual copies of the questions on the exam.

Just passed my last CCNP test and what do I read on the score print-out? Cisco NOW requires you to wait at least 180 days before retaking a Cisco exam with the SAME number. ! 180 days !
Hi to the the gatekeeper Mike S. and thanks to the two of you for your help along the journey to CCNP

Hey JC,
Like alot of other people who read your blog you got me through the CCNP. When are the last 3 CCVP videos coming out =)

Marc, that can't be right. Cisco would have a revolt on their hands. Many smaller partners rely on their engineers to get certs in order to maintain the partner certification. I've been happy to pay for a number of retests but having to wait 6 months for another potential failure will result in many small partners walking away from the process entirely. If you only have a couple of engineers there's only so much depth you can support.

The 180 day waiting policy is only for those who PASS the exam; this is an attempt to keep people from continually taking the exam and creating brain dumps. If you fail the exam, you do not have to wait the 180 days.

I just took my BSCI today and passed, thanks for the great hardhat class last week JC. I was anticipating the new digital signature and picture, but neither happened.

Congrats Steven! Yes, this new system will not be in place until sometime in 2008.
