Cisco Certified People Can Get Juniper Certified...Free?

Juniper is evil...at least, that's what my Cisco-brainwashed mind thought until I spoke with someone who really knew how to work with Juniper routers. After about an hour, I was amazed at some of the software features (their software is called JUNOS) they have implemented. It seems as though Juniper can do most everything Cisco can, but with a more efficient interface to work with. Ever since then, I've been looking for a way to get into the Juniper world...Google Ads to the rescue :o)

Just this morning, a Google Ad at the top of my own site caught my eye. It was an ad FROM Juniper saying that Cisco people can get Juniper certified for free. After clicking the add, I found out that it's true! Here's the process:

1. Go to the Juniper Cisco certification page: http://www.juniper.net/training/fasttrack

2. Get access to their free E-Learning courses

3. Pass a pre-qualification exam and get a FREE voucher for Sylvan Prometric to take the exam

4. Pass the Sylvan exam and get Juniper certified

I've got to say, this is one of the coolest policies I've ever seen a company implement.

This is great!

but, quote: "Between May and December 2007".
Is this only for the pre-qualification exam??

Posted by: Michiel at December 6, 2007 10:25 PM

This IS for the FULL exam, but only until the end of this year indeed.

I heard a well-qualified rumor the program is going to be extended into 2008!

Posted by: Kevin at December 7, 2007 10:48 AM

But isn't it that if you get a voucher (pre-qualification) that this is valid for lets say 6 months?
I mailed juniper regarding this, I will let you know when I get a reply.

Just got a reply from Juniper:

Thank you for your interest in the Fast Track Program! We are currently running this through the end of December with the anticipation of extending the entire program into 2008. This is not yet official, but we hope to continue providing this opportunity to networking professionals.

Currently you just need to pass the preassessment exams in the Fast Track Web Portal before January 1st to earn your free vouchers. Once your free vouchers are emailed to you, you will have 30 days to redeem them at a Prometric Testing Center.

Juniper are feeling the pinch of a lack of trained professionals to run their equipment.

They are pretty much following exactly what Cisco are doing, and are cherry picking the people who are already Cisco qualified (meaning if you are Cisco qualified, then Juniper would feel its safe to assume that your are worth investion in training wise) so they don't have to go to the hassle of setting publishing services and network academys like Cisco did.

You are currently spreading a virus from a file located at http://www.ciscoblog.com/docstore/ in a file called CCNACD.zip. I downloaded it the other day and currently Kaspersky virus scanner is identifying it as a virus. Please email me if you have any questions, but it would be nice if you were to remove it.

This IS for the FULL exam?

Kaspersky identifies one of the tools in the CCNACD.zip as a virus since it can be used as a hacking utility.

Jeremy

I have a question for you and I can't find a way to get this to you any other way.

What program do you use in your CBT nuggets to do your drawings and writing on the screen. Are you using a tablet with some certain program or are you using a WACOM tablet with a certain program. I am just curious as to what you use.

I just saw this in the press release announcing the Juniper EX series of switches:

"Juniper also announced the extension of the Juniper Networks Certification Fast Track Program through 2008, and now includes a certification for JUNOS-based switching."

Networks Certification Fast Track Program - Extended Through 2008!
Because of its enormous popularity, the Juniper Networks Certification Fast Track Program is being extended through 2008! We are very excited about the number of participants in the program, and we look forward to working with more networking professionals in 2008.

There are some important changes to the program that we highlight below.
Enterprise Routing Courseware Remains At No Cost, Vouchers Now Worth a 50% Discount for Exams
What's the same:
The existing Enterprise Routing courseware will remain available on the Fast Track Web Portal, and participants will continue to have the opportunity to earn Enterprise Routing associate-level (JNCIA-ER) and specialist-level (JNCIS-ER) certification vouchers.
What's changed:
Beginning February 8, participants will realize a 50% savings when redeeming JNCIA-ER and JNCIS-ER vouchers at any Prometric Testing Center, as opposed to being able to take the exams at no charge in 2007.
This change in cost still provides an exceptional opportunity for participants because the courseware, valued at several thousand dollars, still remains at no charge for the participants, and on average, a participant will incur a cost of only $60 per exam.
New Program Name and New Certifications Coming Soon
The program name has changed from the JUNOS Enterprise Routing Certification Fast Track Program to the Juniper Networks Certification Fast Track Program because coming soon we are adding two additional certification offerings to the program in 2008. Stay tuned for future announcements.
Cisco Certification Requirement Removed and New Fast Track Web Portal Created
Starting in 2008, networking professionals no longer need to be Cisco certified to participate in the Juniper Networks Certification Fast Track Program. This change allows all experienced networking professional to participate in the program. Throughout 2008, Juniper Networks will continue to fast track even more networking professionals in the shortest amount of time-at a substantial savings!
COMING SOON on February 8, we are releasing the new Juniper Networks Certification Fast Track Web Portal. To provide our participants an even better experience, we are implementing the following features:
A new, easy-to-navigate, enhanced user interface
Updated program information with the addition of FAQs
Event-based e-mail notifications to keep participants' accounts more secure
The ability to track the progress of participants' preassessment exams!

Hi all, I work at Juniper Networks and I manage Juniper's technical discussion community called J-Net. I just wanted to mention that J-Net has an education and certification area if you are interested in discussing topics related to Juniper Certification. We've just switched our community platform a few months ago so there aren't too many threads yet. However registration is free and we'd like to invite you to come check out the community:

I am CCNP certified and moving towards CCIE, inparallel to this i want to write juniper certifications as well, please can some one advise me about it, is juniper and cisco CLIs are similar? is it easy for a cisco person to learn and become master in Juniper? and all the details which you can provide to me.... waiting for your responce....

Posted by: Saleemuddin at April 8, 2008 7:00 AM

Cisco and Juniper cli is different. There commands are different. Also, there policies are different from Cisco's so really if you want to learn more about Juniper because i am certified both Juniper and Cisco and work with both if would be advantageous to go the juniper's website and go to learn junos as a second language it is really helpful and learning junos command line
