The Coolest Cisco Links of All
Okay, here's my thought. I've got some links that I have found very handy in the Cisco world over the years...links that I typically forget about, but then someone shows me the same link months later and I get all excited about them again. Rather than continuing the cycle, I was hoping to enlist your help to create a post that has all sorts of great links. Eventually, we can compile a list and put them in some permanent place on the website. These links include cool resources, utilities (cheap or free), and "tips". Please don't include blogs in this list (not that they're not valuable...just a different category). So, here's what I've got so far:
1. Top 100 Security Tools (http://sectools.org/)
2. Switch Inspector (sweet, inexpensive switchport mapper - http://www.switchinspector.com/)
3. MRTG (traffic statistics, free - http://oss.oetiker.ch/mrtg/), PRTG (traffic statistics, cheap - http://www.paessler.com/prtg)
4. Level 7 Password Decryption (http://cfz.ir/ot/?what=ciscocracker)
5. Cain and Able Security Audit util (http://www.oxid.it/cain.html)
6. Kiwi Syslog (free, good syslog server - http://www.kiwisyslog.com/products.php#syslog)
7. Kiwi CatTools (configuration management / change tracking - http://www.kiwisyslog.com/products.php#cattools)
8. TFTP Server (overcomes 32MB limit - http://tftpd32.jounin.net/tftpd32_download.html)
9. IOS Configuration Editor, fairly cheap (http://www.winagents.com/en/products/cisco-config-editor/)
10. IP Chicken - external IP from anywhere...no pop-up ads (www.ipchicken.com)
11. Bandwidth Gauge (Speakeasy has always been my fav. - http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/)
12. Tera Term - my favorite Windows telnet/SSH client (http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA002416/teraterm.html)
13. Boson's Free Utils - bunch of handy/goof around utils (http://www.boson.com/FreeUtilities.html)
That's all I could think of off the top of my head. What else do ya'll got?

o.k. here are my 2 cents. For me the best swiss Army knife is the 3Com 3CDaemon. Has a FTP Server, TFTP Server and Client and an Syslog service, all out of the box, no need to Install it.

If you like MRTG you'll love Cacti (http://cacti.net)
COSI-NMS (http://cosi-nms.sourceforge.net/) is the Cisco approved, unofficial repository for Cisco utilities.

What makes Tera Term better than PuTTY?

What about Networking-Forum.com?

I always use TeraTerm for direct console connections and putty for ssh. Telnet is just the Windows command prompt, but I need to move everything to ssh.
To add the list, the network security toolkit looks nice. I haven't tried it, yet, but it should have something useful. http://nst.sourceforge.net/nst/

This version of Tera Term is a little better by fixing some of the problems from the original:

Great to find your blog, those are great links and I'm adding you to my feedreader today...
Might I suggest a couple of guides I've put together for Network World's Cisco Subnet?

I know some of you are receiving errors when you post a comment; fear not - that's just my blogs "spam filter" thinking all these links may be spam. I'm still getting your post, I just have to approve it first.

How to upgrade ios on a cisco router

Well ... didn't see this on the site, hopefully it's not a duplicate.
This is a link to dynamips which is a VM program that can load real IOS into multiple virtual machines on your pc. Currently I have 4 7206/NPE-400's simulating ospf, bgp, mpls,(EoMPLS), PIM and QoS configs ... it is the real IOS so it works just like it would ... it's just limited to the resources on your computer. You can also map a real PC interface to a fake interface in the VM environment and route to the real world or run traffic to the real world.
Very cool ... a must have if you are studying anything Cisco related (doesn't support Cat or PIX yet though)
This is a link to the tutorial, but includes links to all the associated programs as well.

Jim - you win the award for the "coolest link of all" :) I've never heard of that one before! It looks awesome!

Tracert.com. Ping, traceroute and DNS resolution...among other things.
routergod.com. Great source of humor.
Getif (http://www.wtcs.org/snmp4tpc/getif.htm) and STG (leonidvm.chat.ru) are great tools for network troubleshooting and mgmt.

Apart from Putty, thought the following may be useful
1. Network Calculator, always handy for IP subnet planning (http://www.subnetmask.info/)
2. TraceTCP, useful for firewall port diagnostics - http://tracetcp.sourceforge.net/index.html)
3. 5-in-1 cable, meaning to make one of these one day http://www.ossmann.com/5-in-1.html)
4. GRC's ShieldsUp, useful for scanning exposed ports on your PC from Internet (http://www.grc.com/default.htm)
5. GRC's password generator for Wireless WPA preshared keys (https://www.grc.com/passwords.htm)
6. McAfee Foundstone free tools, various useful utils, SuperScan one of the better port scanners http://www.foundstone.com/resources/freetools.htm)
7. Qcheck, tool to determine reponse times over network to help with QoS deployment http://www.ixiacom.com/products/display?skey=qcheck)
8. Wireshark, protocol analyser http://www.wireshark.org/)
Sure most of you have already seen most of the above but handy to get most of these good links in one place
Cheers

to all,
working in a company which is VoIP LD service provider. Had being used TDM PRI connection as local access inbound connection.
topo like this:
switch carrier -> PRI -> Cisco AS5400 -> Softswitch -> LD termination
we would like to embrace the IP based inbound traffic into our system, and still need Cisco GW for authentication(radius client) and the IVR player. Studied the feature of CIsco IP IP GW feature, and feel like this is what we are looking for.
IP base inbound traffic (SIP or H.323) -> Cisco AS5400 -> LD termination
I had no experience on the IP IP GW feature set. looking forward the advice or consultant help from experienced expert.
regards,
