Calling All Web Gurus
I'm looking to redesign the CiscoBlog. If there's one thing I'm NOT, it's a web guy. Is anyone out there a web guru who would be willing to make this web site better? Here's the two things I'm looking to do:
1. Make the Cisco Blog more...professional / jazzy looking (right now, it looks like a product of HTML 101 students...)
2. Add a forum application off the main site that will allow for general discussion topics from anyone
Right now, the CiscoBlog is running off of Movable Type, which I'd like to keep (unless someone convinces me otherwise).
I contacted one company I found on a random Google search. They quoted me $2400.00 to do it...riiiight. So yeah - if it's going to cost that much, I'm thinking HTML 101 isn't all that bad after all. Is web dev. really all that much? Just to make something prettier?
Anyhow, if you or someone you know would be willing to take on the project, I'd love to chat! Oh...on that note. Please be someone who knows what they're doing :). I've talked to people before who have said, "Oh yeah! I'll do it!!!"And then begin to explain how they just learned to bold fonts in HTML...
If you're interested, please email me at Jeremy@CiscoBlog.com - thanks!

Themes baby! I use Wordpress so I don't know about the MT world but I imagine they have the same thing. As for the forum it's probably easier to go with a standalone one. I prefer SimpleMachines (SMF). Easy to use.
My blog is a WP theme with a picture of me that I made.
Check out www.capitalareacobraclub.com to see what I did for an SMF theme.

Don't change this site! People don't come here for the looks they come for the content. Just my two cents worth.

Yes, I agree - keep the style. Content is the most important thing :)

Yep, just keep it this way.
The only thing I mis is a e-mail notification option to alert me when new topics are posted.

I think the site is great the way it is. It is very simple to navigate and find what you want. I agree with the others, content is king.

Okay - deal. I'll leave the website as is and look into adding a forum. Thanks for the feedback!

Hi Jeremy,
I too run a Cisco Networking related website http://www.jlsnet.co.uk/. This site offers help for ’simple folk’ using Cisco equipment, it contains a selection of Cisco configuration tutorials as well as a few tips for those studying for CCNA.
If you are feeling brave, I would be more than happy to publish any tutorials written by you on my website and of course give you and this website the credit where due.
Keep up the good work, feel free to email me,
Jim

Hi,
I love this site, it helped me a lot, we surely have to make it look more professional.
The good thing now is its more legible to read.
Thank u
