Cisco Emulator

I've seen this one posted on a couple blogs 'round the net, but it's too awesome to pass up. This fellow has created a CISCO EMULATOR! Not just a simulator, but an actual emulator allowing you to boot up a 7200 IOS on a Linux- or Windows-based PC!!! When I first got into Cisco 8 years ago, this is something I would have given a left kidney for. I've tested it out and it works GREAT - I'm really excited to see this develop into a system that can emulate other router models and interfaces.

You will need a copy of a 7200 IOS version to make this happen.

Looking for some help with this. I've got Cygwin installed, file.exe installed, and dynamips(emulator) installed. Not finding a lot of docs on this. Looks great maybe because I'm trying to use on XP. Dunno. I have 3640 IOS's 12.4.
Thanks in advance.

Hello!

I downloaded and tried to install a CISCO 7200, IOS emulator on WinXP, but when it comes to decompressing the files, I see the same error message: cygwin1.dll is missing. I already have this .dll file downloaded, but I cannot open it. I am being sent on a wild goose chase to find a program to help execute and install it, but I am unable to find the proper program.
I would like to use the emulator to help me prepare for my CCNA Cert.
Can you give me any advice?

The emulator also requires a Cisco IOS that can be downloaded from http://tools.cisco.com/support/downloads/pub/Redirect.x?mdfid=268437987

However, you need to be a Cisco customer in order to download it.
