Random Shortcut: Copy R S

| 13 Comments

I recently stumbled on this...If you try to shortcut copy running-config startup-config with anything shorter than copy run start you'll get an ambiguous command error (ex: copy ru st). However, the Cisco IOS does allow you to type copy r s as a shortcut. Who knew?

...Yes...I still like wr better too.

lolax....:)..i knw this thing already ...always thinking y is it so..may be m noob dats y i ignored it...but nce post...

Yes, I knew that .) We use edge-core swithces as an access equipment, and when we noticed "copy r s" works for them, we tried that on cisco devices.

Btw, JC, I'm soooo looking forward to have your new nuggets regarding BGP and MPLS =-)

The sad thing is that in NX-OS 'wr' as short for 'copy run start' isn't there.

wr works everytime for me. Hours of watching JC on nuggets. LOL...

write =! copy run start

hi,

i faced a question in an interview,

that is hsrp supports how many routers?

can any body help me?

copy run start is the one which would be used in the exams but for the general purpose working using wr or u can also create an alias for the run start command
